First Chair
A founding place within Sit Awhile.
Some people join a community. A few can say they were there from the very beginning.
First Chair is reserved for the first ten people to take their seat at the Sit Awhile table.
You’ll join as a Core or Full Journey member, with something extra: recognition as one of the people who helped begin the Sit Awhile story. During our founding year, you’ll also receive a little more support and a few thoughtful extras along the way.
There will only ever be ten First Chairs.
Available until all ten places are filled or 31st October 2026, whichever comes first.
What First Chair means
Part of the story from the beginning.
The first members of any community become part of its earliest memories. Sometimes, though, their part in the beginning goes a little deeper — they help shape the community itself.
Sit Awhile recognises this.
They bring ideas. They notice what works and what could be different. Some of what begins with them may remain for years; other things may be reshaped as the community grows.
But perhaps most importantly, they believed before there was a story to look back on. They believed in the principles, the foundations and the potential of what Sit Awhile could become. That is something special, and something I will never take lightly.
First Chair recognises the ten people who choose to sit alongside Sit Awhile from that very beginning.
The status is intentionally limited, but it was never created to place one member above another. Every member follows the same Four Seasons journey, with the same invitation to explore, participate and belong.

Only ten places
First Chair is reserved for the first ten qualifying members of Sit Awhile. There will only ever be ten First Chairs.

Two months on us
Choose monthly membership and, during your founding year, make 10 monthly payments and receive 12 months of membership. Your final two months are on us.

First Chair status
Your founding First Chair status remains with you for as long as your membership stays continuous.

Seasonal mentoring
One complimentary mentoring session is included in each season during your founding year. If you’d like additional support, you can also book one further mentoring session per season at the enhanced First Chair rate — 35% off for Core and 50% off for Full Journey.

First Chair extras
First Chair members receive special rates on selected additional events and experiences during their founding year, including Guest Workshops and new opportunities as they arise.
Monthly Workshops and Keepers of Stories remain part of your usual Core or Full Journey membership access.

Quarterly gatherings
Four exclusive First Chair Gatherings each year, for as long as you retain your First Chair status — a chance to come together, pause, reconnect and continue sharing the journey.
The founding-year offer

During their founding year, First Chair members receive 12 months of membership for the price of 10, whether they pay monthly or annually. This benefit is available with both Core and Full Journey membership.
It’s our way of giving the founding journey a little more space to unfold — never a reason to rush through it.
First Chair Gatherings
A place to come back together.
First Chair isn't only about being there at the beginning.
Four times each year, First Chair members are invited to come back together — to pause, reconnect, share what they have noticed along the way and enjoy the company of the people who began this journey beside them.
There is nothing to prepare and no expectation to arrive with something to contribute. Come with a thought, a question, a story — or simply come and listen.

Keeping First Chair status
First Chair stays with you.
You'll retain First Chair recognition for as long as your Sit Awhile membership remains continuous.
- Your First Chair status will sit alongside either Core or Full Journey membership.
- You can switch between Core and Full Journey without losing your First Chair status, as long as your membership remains continuous.
- If your Sit Awhile membership ends, your First Chair status — and the benefits that come with it — will end too.

A few things to know before launch.
Is First Chair a third membership level?
No. First Chair is a founding status that sits alongside either Core Membership or Full Journey Membership.
How many First Chair places are available?
Ten places only. The invitation closes when all ten places are filled or on 31st October 2026, whichever happens first.
What does “pay for 10, receive 12” mean?
During the founding year, a First Chair member receives twelve months of membership while paying the equivalent of ten months at their chosen membership level.
How does the mentoring benefit work?
First Chair includes one complimentary mentoring session in each season. It follows the member’s own seasonal journey rather than the calendar.
Does First Chair last forever?
The founding status remains for the lifetime of continuous Sit Awhile membership. If membership ends, the First Chair status is no longer active.
